I spent last night cooking for tonight while watching the Democratic National Convention on C-SPAN on my tiny under-cabinet kitchen television and bouncing back and forth between crying and shaking my fist angrily in the air.
Duke spent his night working in the yard and listening to the Cubs on the radio, and then watched the last inning or two on TV in the living room.
At one point, Barack Obama was speaking in the kitchen, and I had given up all pretense of working. I was standing, leaned over with my elbows on the counter and my chin in my hands, the little flat screen inches from my nose. In the living room, Aramis Ramirez was up to bat with the bases loaded. The C-SPAN camera panned backwards on Invesco Field, showing the 75,000+ cheering, crying, dancing Democrats putting forth their hope for the future of our country, while Duke shouted "GRAND SLAM! GRAND SLAM!!!!" from the living room.
Hope. I'm not sure that one household can handle this much.

Here's a question: Why is it some sort of badge of honor that she went back to work 3 days after giving birth to a child with Down's Syndrome? Am I supposed to be impressed by that? What is that little tidbit supposed to be saying?

He referenced the anniversary of women's sufferage. Do we know how he voted on that?
She has a huge flag pin on. She must really love America, unlike the rest of us.
And WTF is up with the names of her children and grandchildren?

After spending the day surrounded by bigoted, small minded republicans who honestly believe Joe Biden was only chosen as a running mate due to his ability to fill the role of "old, white guy" I began to consider learning French so my move to Canada would go smoothly.
Sigh.
