Chicago by Motorcycle

That's Chicago. You can click to enlarge it. The blue line is the path that Duke and I covered on his motorcycle yesterday between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm.

I can't say that I've ever had so much fun wasting away an entire day on the motorcycle before. I can't even describe the awe and wonder I experienced when we were downtown, passing by skyscrapers with no roof over our heads interfering with the view. Of course, there were also bad Chicago experiences that I don't get in the car, areas of town that I would rather not be able to smell, potholes that I'd rather hit with four wheels than two.

It was a pretty amazing day. Any minute now, I expect to regain feeling from my knees to my abdomen.

duke has a Suzuki Ninja with neon around the engine so it glows.

How close to the iron butt was that ride? Oh wait, that's a 1000 miles in 24 hours....that's chicago to denver...holy crap that's a long way. never mind.

It was about as much as I could take. Interstate travel for long distances is easier on me, but hitting potholes and bouncing around back there just turns me into a total whiner.

Or it would be Chicago to Lincoln, NE and return. I did that with a friend a few years back. Took about 17-18 hours as I recall.

Actually, 1000 miles in a day would be the Saddlesore 1000. The Iron Butt is 11,000 miles in 11 days. And it's a Kawasaki Ninja, not a Suzuki, thank you very much! The best I ever did was 1500 miles in 3 days. And that sucked.

Once I did a wheelie on my motorbike and it was friggen awesome!
