Another week, another baseball stadium photo. I hope you aren't expecting anything better from me next Monday either.
Cincinnati, Reds, Great American Ballpark. If you had blindfolded me and walked me into this place, I would have guessed that I was still in Chicago. The place was filled to the brim with Cubs fans, including one guy in front of us holding a sign that said "Wrigley South". I would have perhaps gone with "Wrigley East" but hey, it's the thought that counts, not geography, right?
I really love Cincy. I could spend more time there, happily. We were there on Saturday and Sunday and there were many places that we didn't have time to visit, and not all of them were Skyline Chili locations.
(Dude. Lydia. I'm in agreement about the Skyline Chili being unimpressive. If I wanted to eat cinnamon out of a bowl with a spoon, I wouldn't bother with calling it chili.)
The Cubs didn't score as many points with me as the city of Cincinnati did, unfortunately. Our drive home was basically a 100-mile long convoy of pissed off people with Illinois license plates winding their way through Indiana.
It did not help that we got back into the car after Sunday's horrific last-inning loss, just as the radio was firing up with Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends".
I can't speak for Duke, but I haven't lost my optimism for the 2008 Cubs season yet. I guess it must be because I'm so new to this Cubs Fan thing. Give me a few more weeks, and maybe I will be able to go from a Ronnie Woo Woo impression to an obscenity-laden tirade in less than 12 hours myself.
