I leave for Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Chili Bowl at 11 pm tonight.
I have read and repeated the line "Living on Tulsa Time" in so many of my friends' statuses this week that I've had the Don Williams song stuck in my head for quite awhile. Here, I'll share:
This song is also representative of one of the larger disappointments in my guitar-learning experience, when I found out that playing the most basic chords is the same as playing "Achy Breaky Heart". Yeah. Listen to it again. Sigh.
Anyway. So I've been trying to get ready for the trip to Tulsa, and my recent health setback hasn't been much help (I will go into more detail on this when I get back, when I have the time and energy to type it all out, I promise). But Duke has been a lot of help, and for that I'm grateful. Even when I'm sendnig him emals that loook lke thsi he still comes through with exactly what I need.
So today is the day that the lists come out, the lists of what I can't forget to take with me, what clothes I need to pack (which I just found out is significantly less, because I have an Official Race Team Uniform waiting for me in Tulsa), the list of crap I bought for my camera that will stuff my new bag to the limit, the list of books I'll take with and not get around to reading because of late nights translating bar food menus into Kiwi, the spare batteries, chargers, earplugs, and of course, all of this uncontainable excitement.
This isn't a goodbye for the week, but I am not sure what my posting schedule will be like while I'm there. You're better off following me on Twitter for the best news. I'll also be doing the ghost-written live updates for the team's drivers David and David, so follow them too, please! (ZOMG Jane! David tweets while driving! He's so talented!)
To my friends in Tulsa, I'll see you in the morning! Wow. I'll be at the Chili Bowl tomorrow. Squeee!
