There's nothing like posting a Chili Bowl story and then disappearing for three and a half days, huh?
I'm totally alive. Mostly. I've been working on hacking up the lower right corner of my left lung ever since I returned to Illinois, but I haven't yet figured out if it's air quality related or if I have a cold.
I've gotten a lot of questions about my head, and knock on wood, I'm okay. (I didn't have a stroke! I win!) I was actually having some issues before I left, and there was no increase in frequency or severity while I was in the Expo Center. A few years ago, at this point, I'd likely be in the hospital, so I'm calling this progress. Converting my seat to a pit pass was a big help, as I wasn't spending quite as much time in the worst areas as I usually do.
For two days after I got home, I had phantom pit pass issues. I could still feel it on my wrist. It made me sad.

There were no walls missing when I got home, but there is a new door in the kitchen. The pantry has a door. It's wicked exciting.

I'm laying low this weekend to catch up on the 47 different side projects that I'm behind on. Next weekend, I head to Michigan to hang with Marc, BLC, Amy, and Rosanne Cash. And fried pickles.

I have 7 or 8 different Twitter accounts installed in my app on Louise as of this morning. I have two (this one and this one), I have one for my company, and the rest are race car drivers for whom I will be ghost-tweeting live updates during competition this coming season.
It's a brilliant plan. Unless they all end up in the same race.
But I'm going to give it a try, because I thought there was a pretty good response to the live updates from the Chili Bowl. I'll keep it up just for the "I can't believe you're updating Facebook while racing" comments directed towards my drivers.

This week, years past:
2009: Duke and I had dinner with the 1985 Chicago Bears.
2008: Aliens landed at the Sears Center. Duke and I exchanged sports heroes of the 1980s.
2007: My iPod was drafted to Iraq (a post that reminds me I need to listen to that Steve Earle album today). The Bears made it into the Superbowl and Mindy administered an NFL cheerleader test in my comments.
2006: Wrecks and I had alarm clock issues.

If you'd like to educate us all on the signs, I always appreciate those reminders from you. In fact, the first time I had my new symptoms that scared me so bad, your lists were in my head the whole time.

Face - is it symmetrical when they smile?
Arms - can they raise them to the same height?
Speech - is it slurred?
Time - Time is brain. Too many cells are lost every second. A tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) shot can be given to reverse the effects if within a narrow time frame (3 hours from onset).
Be well, sweetie.

TIAs (transient ischemic attacks) are mini-strokes (I had 2 before the big one). Has the neurologist talked about this?

My questions for the doc are obvious, but are what are on my mind now, if I come up with others, I will write again
What, specifically, causes the symptoms that make it unworrisome?
What is the connection of my symptoms to something more serious?
