So I spent all day today in bed. And I mean alllllll day. Could not function at all. I've been fighting a slight cold the entire week, but it hit me very hard at about 9 pm last night, when it turned into the full blown Tulsa Kuru that everyone has been reporting since the Chili Bowl. My head filled up with snot and my lungs ceased to function, and there you have it.
I woke up sporadically, mostly to re-dose myself and lose consciousness again. I also had to wake up a few times to shake off a dream that was just too weird. The first was my trip to the Country Music Association awards, where I had this hair . . . oh, the hair. The image of my CMA hair may never leave me.
At some point, I crawled out to the couch, where I fell asleep watching something on the DVR. When it was over, there was a Law & Order SVU marathon on, and I had a whole host of strange dreams involving the plotline of this show, which I've never seen conscious.
Around 7ish, I finally got up, and I've been somewhat alive for an hour now. While I've been out, Duke has been busy. We have a pantry now. The shelves aren't here yet, but there are real walls and a real, fully-mounted door, and it's just cooler than I ever imagined it would be.
The rest of this weekend will be pretty low-key as well. Duke's parents are coming out for dinner tomorrow night, which means I'll spend the morning and afternoon doing the panic-cleaning thing.
Hopefully sometime between now and then, I'll get some of my freelance work done. I have a list about 10 miles long, and I'm in a hurry. Damn you, Tulsa Kuru.
Hope you're all having a better Saturday than mine.
