Hello, hello. It has been a hell of a week.
I spent last weekend with Ooops Sister Amy, who flew in from Boston for my birthday and the Avett Brothers at the Riverside in Milwaukee. I had a gathering of racing friends on Friday night, at a bar with my name on the sign for the night (welcome to the Park, Janey, and after only a week!) On Saturday, Amy, DuMom and I met Greta at the Milwaukee Ale House for beers and pizza, and then hit the show.
The Avett Brothers absolutely blew me away. After the first couple of songs, when the young 'ens never sat down and kept rocking out to some hardcore banjo solos, I told my mother that my faith in humanity was restored.
I'll spare you the story of the event that night that restored her faith in humanity.

I feel like "Murder in the City" is a separate topic from the Avett Brothers show, though it's obviously what spawned it. This song brought me to tears in person, and I came home and immediately learned it on the guitar, and Wags is working on it, and I feel a desperate need to play this song with him.
I've often heard a song and thought "I could play this" or "Wags would love this." This was the first time that the music demanded that we perform together. And I know we'll absolutely kill it.
There is nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name.

Everyone keeps asking me "When is the big moving day?" It's not so much a day as a . . . pair of weeks? I'm not putting everything I own into boxes and calling everyone I know that owns a truck, and then living out of boxes until I unpack. So far, I've been packing, sorting, splitting things into what is going to the new house, what's going to storage, and what's going to Goodwill. The Goodwill pile is the largest. At some point, I'll have to bat my eyelashes at some boy in my life to help me with my biggest bookcase and my elliptical machine. Otherwise, I'm being a stubborn slow-moving loner in this process.
My guitars, all but 3 pairs of shoes, my purses, and my books are in the new house. I'm going to IKEA tonight to pick up my new desk, and then the office will move. After that, things will pick up the pace quite a bit. I hope to be done early next week.

Rosanne Cash has talked to me on Twitter two more times in the last week. We're going to be BFFs, I'm telling you.
