Duke has been caring for his parents' black lab, Jaxon, while they are in Florida for a few weeks. Because he has a big project due this week, he's been working late hours and we've been juggling time spent at the Stately Manor to make sure the dogs get adequate attention from somebody. And boy are there dogs everywhere. The difference between one dog and two is like a power of ten, isn't it?
Jaxon is the dog that Duke has always measured all other dogs against, in behavior and "real" dog-ness. Wrecks has been compared unfavorably to Jaxon daily for the past several years.
Which made things extra fun when Jaxon ate Duke's cell phone charger on his second night in the house. But I digress.
Jane: I noticed that spot on the lawn where you shoveled the snow out for Wrecks this winter is finally greening up.
Duke: Right, that's so weird. It should be greener than the rest of the lawn.
Jane: I don't think that's how dog urine works. Doesn't it burn the lawn if the dog goes in the same spot all the time?
Duke: No, at my parents house, the spots where Jaxon pees are greener than the rest of the lawn.
Jane: Really? I am pretty sure that's not how it usually works.
Duke: Well, obviously this is just another thing that makes Jaxon superior to all other dogs. He pees fertilizer.
