About Jane

I am Jane.  Jane is also Beth.  I am 29 (though I started my last bio with my age and then didn’t update it for three years, so you may want to check my math.  I was born in Q1 1981).

I was raised in North Dakota, where I couldn’t have legally married any of my classmates and where I learned how to chew on my vowels before they left my mouth.  My parents moved us to Rockford, Illinois in time for me to graduate from a class more than twice the size of my hometown.

I’ve written two books that I’m proud of, several that I’m not.  Six Mile Corner makes my mother unnecessarily nervous and Another Thing He Left Undone makes the men in my life check their flies.  I’m working on getting these books into your hands.  It may involve door-to-door sales.

A huge part of my soul is dirt track open wheel auto racing.  The majority of my childhood was spent on the road chasing one race after another.  My father is a partner in a race team.  My best friends are drivers.  I watch from the sidelines.  My lasting contribution to the world of sprint car and midget racing will likely be my story about when Davey R. mistook grits for the worst mashed potatoes in the world.

I have the greatest parents on the planet and they kick your parents’ asses in every way.  My baby brother, Wags, is a rock star English teacher who has set out to change the world, and he has, and he will continue to do so, and your kids and your eardrums should thank him forever.

I left one husband because a fortune cookie told me to, I left one boyfriend because a song on the radio told me to, and a trip to a psychic on the west side of Rockford changed everything, forever.  I don’t believe in any god, especially your god, but I listen to The Universe anyway.  I have clowns in my coffee.  I am rewarded daily for the love I’ve put out there in the nameless void.

I’m told I’m a hard woman to love.  Try anyway.
